Spousal Open Work Permit
An individual who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and wants to work in Canada may do so with a spousal open work permit. With this work permit, the spouse or partner can work for any employer in Canada as it is not linked to any particular business.
A Canadian citizen or permanent resident who has applied for permanent residency on behalf of their spouse or common-law partner is required in order for the spouse or partner to be eligible for a spousal open work visa. A medical test and a police certificate are just two of the requirements the candidate must fulfill in order to be eligible.
The duration of the spouse's or partner's study or work permit, if any, is typically the same as that of the spousal open work permit. A one-year open work permit may be granted if the spouse or partner is a citizen or permanent resident of Canada without a study or work permit.
A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is not required for employers to recruit an applicant with a spousal open work permit; instead, the permit holder can work in any job in Canada. While the application for permanent residency is being handled, this makes it simpler for the applicant to obtain work and for the spouse or partner to provide financial assistance for the family.
