  1. Examine your eligibility. Verify if you are eligible for a study permit in Canada by checking the prerequisites. Get ready to submit your application. You can get ready to apply for a study permit if you satisfy all qualifying requirements. Make sure you have all the paperwork needed for your nation. It is important to have your application reviewed by a qualified and experienced immigration consultant before submitting it, as immigration authorities have the authority to refuse study visas to applicants who they believe have not fulfilled all requirements.

  2. Submit your application for a study permit. To submit your application, you have two options: Send in a digital application: You can electronically submit an application using scanned or electronic copies of your documentation by creating an account on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website. Send in a paper application: Put together your application in paper copy and send it to the visa application center (VAC) that is in charge of your nation.

  3. If your study permit is approved, you will receive a message to submit your passport for stamping. You will receive your study permit when you arrive at a Canadian Port of Entry (POE). Please note that your study permit is not a visa. This means that, depending on your country of citizenship, you may need a travel visa in order to come to the POE in Canada.
