Super Visa
Parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents are eligible to visit the country for up to two years at a time, without the need to renew their visa, thanks to a unique program called the Super Visa. Some essential information regarding the Super Visa program is as follows:
-
Eligibility: You need to be able to demonstrate that you have a sincere relationship with your child or grandchildren in Canada in order to be eligible for a Super Visa. You can also be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Together with fulfilling additional qualifying requirements, you must also show proof of at least a year's worth of health insurance coverage.
-
Application procedure: Applying for a Super Visa is comparable to applying for a regular visitor visa, but it calls for extra paperwork. These documents include proof of relationship, proof of medical insurance, and a letter of invitation from your child or grandchild living in Canada.
-
Medical insurance: Applicants for Super Visas must possess a minimum of $100,000 in coverage for a minimum of one year from a Canadian insurance provider.
-
Parental and grandparental visa holders are permitted to remain in Canada for a maximum of two years at a time with the Super Visa, without the requirement to renew their visa. This is far longer than the normal visitor visa, which allows a stay of six months.
-
Multiple entry: During the course of the Super Visa's normal 10-year validity, holders are permitted to enter and exit Canada more than once.
