There are options for caregivers to become permanent residents in Canada. After obtaining work experience, qualifying caregivers can apply for permanent residence through the Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker pilot programs. Candidates must pass medical and security screenings, obtain at least two years of work experience within four years, and fulfill language and educational criteria. Succeeding candidates can support their families, take advantage of social advantages, and make a positive contribution to Canadian society.

Recognizing the vital role caregivers play in assisting families and communities, Canada provides special avenues for them to apply for permanent residency. There are primarily two programs for caregivers:

1. Caring for Children's Path:

  • A history of working as a home childcare provider in Canada is a requirement for eligibility.

  • Fulfill the educational and language requirements. Show that you are willing to work in a caring capacity for the long run and make sincere job offers.

  • Method: Use this road to apply for a work permit, obtain experience, and then move toward permanent residency.

2. Pathway for Providing Care for Individuals with Severe Medical Needs:

  • Applicants who have worked as orderlies, home support workers, licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, registered psychiatric nurses, or registered nurse assistants in Canada are eligible.

  • A legitimate employment offer, standards in language and education, and a desire to deliver long-term care are the prerequisites.

  • Application for work permit is the first step in the process; gain experience and move toward permanent residence.

  • Caregivers can contribute to Canadian society while enjoying security and opportunity for advancement through one of the two avenues that lead to permanent residency in Canada.

In recognition of caregivers' invaluable contributions to Canadian families and society, the Canada Caregivers Pathways offer designated pathways for them. An outline of the steps required to get permanent residence is provided below:

1. Caregiver Initiatives:

There are two options available in Canada: the Home Support Worker Pilot and the Home Child Care Provider Pilot.

2. Qualification:

Specific qualifications, such as education, work experience, and language ability, must be met by candidates. Through the caregiver pilots, they have to obtain a work offer from a Canadian firm.

3. Permission to Work:

Caretakers apply for a work permit after receiving a job offer. Caregiver work permits let them carry out their caregiving duties and work in Canada.

4. Experience in Work:

In four years from the date of arrival in Canada, caregivers obtain the necessary work experience (equal to 3,900 hours or 24 months of full-time employment).

5. Request for Permanent Residency:

Caregivers can apply for permanent residency under one of the caregiver pilot programs after gaining the necessary work experience.

6. Security and medical examinations:

As part of the application procedure for permanent residence, candidates and their families are subject to medical and security examinations.

7. Selecting and Setting Down:

Caregivers obtain a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) upon approval of their application. In order to formally become permanent residents of Canada, they then plan for their arrival and finish the landing procedure.

8. Moving to Canada:

In addition to having access to healthcare, education, and other social advantages, caregivers and their families can choose to live and work in Canada.
